MCL Tournament

The Mahindra Champions League (MCL) is an umbrella property under which several sports tournaments and championships are organized throughout the year. The tournaments are conducted for operational companies that are a part of Mahindra World City, Chennai.

 

MWC Chennai organized MCL Badminton Tournament – Season 1 (2023) for operational customers at MWC Chennai. The tournament was planned in 5 formats Men’s (Singles & Doubles), Women’s (Singles & Doubles), and Mixed doubles with 650+ participants’ registration received from 20 companies.

 

 

Mahindra World City, Chennai organized the most anticipated sports event MCL Cricket Trophy – Season 1 (2022), 10 over red cricket ball match among industrial customers of MWC, Chennai. The trophy was organized among the operational customers at Multi Product SEZ and Domestic Tarif Area (DTA).

7th Mahindra World City Marathon a grand success

Chennai, February 2nd, 2020: The seventh edition of the Mahindra World City Marathon, held today at Mahindra World City (MWC), Chennai, witnessed record participation by 8000 runners, with overall participation by 10000 people from various walks of life, who came together to run in support of primary education for the girl child in India. The MWC Marathon commenced at 5.00 AM near Paranur Railway station and continued through the serene, green environs of MWC Chennai. The 21 KM marathon was flagged off by Mr. Tsuyoshi Moriya, Senior Vice President Engineering, Renault Nissan Technology & Business Centre (RNTBCI); the 10 KM run by Mr. John Louis, IAS, Collector of Chengalpet; the 5 KM run by Mr. Ramakrishnan Ramanathan, Head Quality – Renault, RNTBCI; and the 3 KM run by Mr. Vaibhav Mittal, Business Head, Mahindra World City, Chennai. A 1 KM ‘Fun Run’ was also organized for kids and the elderly.

First, second and third ranked male and female winners in the 21 KM and 10 KM races won cash prizes worth Rs.3.30 lakhs in total in two age categories, along with other freebies. Additionally, all the runners who completed the 21 KM and 10 KM categories were also certified by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and the Association of International Marathons (AIMS). All participants in the 5 KM, 3 KM and 1 KM ‘Fun Run’ categories were conferred with medals, certifications and other freebies upon completion of the runs. The MWC Marathon included breakfast and refreshments, free t-shirts and photo shoots for all participants.

The marathon supported by Renault Nissan Technology & Business Centre India (RNTBCI) was environment-friendly and supported the elimination of single-use plastic. Resources used in the marathon will also be re-cycled and reused.

Part of the proceeds from MWC Marathon will be donated to Nanhi Kali. The annual MWC Marathon is held in aid of the girl child, in association with Project Nanhi Kali, an initiative that provides primary education to underprivileged girls in India and is jointly managed by the K. C. Mahindra Education Trust

Urban Forest 2.0 : Thousands come together to plant trees at Mahindra World City, Chennai!

The second edition of the urban afforestation drive held at Mahindra World City (MWC), Chennai witnessed participation by 5000 volunteers from different walks of life, including residents, students and corporate employees. Shri. D Jayakumar, Minister of Fisheries, Personnel and Administrative Reforms, Government of Tamil Nadu was the chief guest at the plantation drive held today. Mr. W V Raman, former Indian cricketer and current coach of the India women’s national cricket team also attended as guest of honour. So far, over 3 lakh trees have been planted across 110 acres at Mahindra World City, Chennai over the course of two years, as part of efforts to grow the city’s green cover.

Commenting on the initiative, Vijayan Janardhanan, Business Head, Mahindra World City, Chennai said, “Planned integrated cities such as Mahindra World City, Chennai have been designed keeping in mind the needs of the environment and that of future generations. It is heartening to see thousands of volunteers come together for the cause of the planet in one of India’s most impactful urban afforestation drives.”

Over dozens of native species of trees were planted to enrich the biodiversity of the region These trees will be nurtured for three years, after which they will strengthen by developing trunks and root systems on their own. These trees will help reduce the carbon footprint of the surrounding area.





 

Chennai’s first ever International Hot Air Balloon Festival held at Mahindra World City – concludes with a gala finale

Mahindra World City, Chennai, in association with Tamil Nadu International Balloon Festival (TNIBF) today drew curtains on Chennai’s first-ever hot air balloon festival. The carnival’s grand finale concluded with a felicitation of Maestro Ilaiyaraaja. Mr. P. Vijayan, Business Head, Mahindra World City, Chennai, said, “It has been a fantastic weekend at Mahindra World City with an overwhelming response to the first ever International Hot Air Balloon Festival in Chennai. The carnival was a grand success, thanks to the untiring efforts of the organising team and to the presence of our esteemed visitors. We are inspired to continue to build on such community experiences at Mahindra World City and towards delivering on our promise of Sooper City, Sooper Life!” The three-day long event witnessed more than 70000 pax participation wherein more than 2000 individuals took flight in tethered balloon rides, soaring up above the scenic environs of Mahindra World City, Chennai. The dazzling display of glowing hot air balloons continued over all three evenings of the carnival. One of the key highlights from the event was the felicitation of Maestro llairaja, widely regarded as one of India’s greatest music composers; and a much-respected singer, songwriter, instrumentalist, orchestrator, and lyricist; by the Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council, in the presence of popular celebrities. Furthermore, in addition to the balloon rides, well-known artist Chutti Arvind, Azhar, singer Andrea Jeremiah, director Rajiv Menon, actor G.V. Prakash Kumar and vocalist Haricharan entertained visitors and participants. 150+ stalls at the carnival offered a wide range of fun and exciting activities, along with an assortment of food trucks and pop-up shops for handicrafts, clothes and much more – in other words, a complete family experience. Moreover, an exciting display of supercars and superbikes enthralled passionate auto fans.

Environment Day Celebrations

To raise awareness about protecting the environment MWC Chennai organised tree plantation inside the city , The programme started with tree plantation drive followed by awareness rally and cleaning of Veerapuram village road. DFO (District Forest Officer) along with his team joined us in tree plantation drive and cleared plastics in and around Veerapuram village road. More than three truckloads of plastics are collected and removed. Around 100 volunteers participated in this drive. The community also emphasised on the advantages of environmental protection. This initiative witnessed a common goal of promoting a green and safe environment for our children and communities.

PEDL launch

MWC Chennai has introduced PEDL – a smart cycle sharing platform which is aimed at creating a convenient commute for short distances and enabling last mile connectivity

Mr. Vijayan, Business Head – MWCC (Residential) launched the smart cycle sharing platform for the MWCC Community. MWC, Chennai has partnered with PEDL by Zoom Cars based out of Bangalore for this initiative. In the first phase, 200 bicycles have been stationed in 6 locations inside MWC which will be scaled up to 1000 cycles covering 30+ locations in the coming months. An introductory offer of Rs. 1 for 30 minutes has been offered by PEDL for MWC Citizens. The support team is also deployed on ground to make this facility more convenient.

The residents, students as well as the working population are thrilled by this initiative. Many have started using these cycles for their daily commute. This is a health initiative as well, no more wastage of time, fuel, and money. All you have to do one time is to download the App, Link the Paytm wallet, Scan the QR Code to unlock the cycle and then you are good to go.

This initiative will bring down the Carbon foot print in MWC Chennai to a significant level.

Mahindra World City Marathon 2017

Held in association with project Nanhi Kali, to support primary education for the Indian girl child

Chennai, November 12th, 2017: The 5th edition of the MWC Marathon was held in Mahindra World City, Chennai today, and saw participation from more than 3500 persons, who came together to run for the aid of girl child in India. The MWC Marathon began at 5.30 am at the ground near the Paranur Railway station and continued through the green environs of MWC Chennai. The 21Km marathon was flagged off by Dr. Shylendra Babu IPS, ADGP – Railway, 10Km by Mr. V.P Jeyaseelan, Sub Collector- Chengalpet, 5Km by Mr. B S Rao, Managing Director, Novares India Automotive Private Limited and the 1Km Fun Run by Sangeeta Prasad, CEO, Integrated Cities and Industrial Clusters, Mahindra Lifespace Developers Ltd. First, second and third ranked male and female winners in the 21 Km and 10 Km races won cash prizes worth Rs. 2.5 lakh in total, along with air ambulance subscriptions and other freebies. All participants were conferred medals and certifications upon completion of the run. Part of the proceeds from MWC Marathon will be donated to Nanhi Kali. NCR Signing

We are delighted to share that, we have signed up 4.15 acres with Casa Grande in the DTA for developing the Built to Suit facility for NCR Corporation. NCR is our existing customer having their 6.45 acre ATM manufacturing facility operational since 2015 at MWCC. They had an additional requirement of 1 lakh sft warehouse space, which we were in discussions for over 18 months working out various options to accommodate them. Casa Grande will be developing an FM global standard warehouse facility and hand it over to NCR by Nov 2017. Its our second transaction with Casa Grande for BTS. It is a team effort and we feel elated to get repeat business from our existing customer.

Mahindra World City Club Members Day Celebration

MWC Club played proud hosts to the Members Day Celebrations at the club premises on Saturday, 29th July 2017. The event was opened exclusively to the Club members and received a huge response of over 375 members who were treated to a fun evening filled with activities, music and great food.

The event began at 7pm and the kids were immediately engrossed in the Art section, where we had Balloon, Caricature and Tattoo artists who kept the kids completely occupied, while the adults and the parents found time to walk around, meet other co-members and interact and indulge in casual conversations. The club displayed various kiosks from Game stalls to Live Food stalls

The Game stalls run by the Club staff included Roulette, Horse Race & Breaking the Pyramid, were an immediate hit as all members gathered around and displayed their sporting skills.

The Club culinary team were at their best displaying Live action behind their stoves serving delicacies from Tandoor, Chinese and Fast Eats. The Chicken Tikkas & Veg Manchurians along with Bhel Puri were few of the favorites of the evening as guests treated their palates before going for the Dinner spread which was a simple yet, a delicious Vegetarian Buffet.

As the DJ played on the latest tracks from different genres keeping all the dance lovers entertained on the Dance Floor, the event was concluded with a Grand Tambola where all members came together and made themselves comfortable and relaxed on the lawn grass, trying their luck at winning the game with the numbers called out by the host of the event. Post that, the event came to a close at 10:30pm with smiles all around summing up a memorable event at MWC Club.
